The brief was to create an outdoor poster campaign that makes the PJ’s brand appealing, accessible & trendy. I achieved this through use of my own illustrative style, which I then vectored to give it its bold and colourful appearance.

For this work, I was fortunate enough to be awarded a D&AD In-Book Award 2009!

While on placement at Dinosaur, after many rounds of image gathering and project research, I was finally given a project that really got my mind racing! I was given the task of creating a series of illustrations that would evenutally (hopefully!) be used to decorate the Landmark Building as vinyl stickers.

After much brainstorming, I eventually came up with the main theme, earth. So each floor would themed, with ground floor being underground, the first floor being above ground, second floor would be the sky, and the top floor being space. I also threw in a large mural of phrases from the Manchester area to give it a sense of location, as well as some illustrations for the front entrance!

On my second placement at Dinosaur, there was more of the same image gathering, but I have since found that to be similar at other places too! I was eventually given the task of creating some concept designs for promotional items for Fiproline, a range of flea drops for dogs and cats. I created designs for bags, stickers, magnets and posters to be used as giveaway items.

A project from my third year at university. We were given the task of choosing a well known British person and creating a poster campaign encouraging people to vote for them in the fictional position of Prime Minister of Europe.

I chose Boris Johnson because he represents the tradition we as a nation have of extremely eccentric people holding positions of power, and therefore making him extremely British himself. To promote him as a candidate, I chose a couple of his quotes which enforce this outlandish persona he has going on. The use of perspex, plywood and newspaper print for the posters further enforces his eccentric nature!

As an extra to this campaign, I created a couple of small pieces using quotes that highlight not only his unusual nature, “Thick as a Plank”, but also the likely shortness of this as a serious campaign for him, “Tomorrow’s Chip Paper”.

A project from my second year at university. We were each given a fictitious company who we then had to create an annual report for. With mine being the British Dog Association, I chose to make that a main feature. So on each page there was an image of a different dog interacting with the page, thus giving it a more playful appearance. I used both images I had taken at a local dog home, and images I found on Getty Images.
